A New App I am Obsessed With

I got a new app called STREAKS, upon the recommendation of a friend. You can customize and track up to 12 habits you want to be consistent with. When you complete the task you hold your finger down and it fills in the circle, gives you a check mark and makes a little sound - all of it is so satisfying. It is like checking something off your to-do list. Am I the only one who completes a task and if it was not written down, I write it down just to check it off?! I know you are out there!

If you break your “streak” (miss a day) then it starts you back at 0. Boo. There is a lot of incentive to stay consistent so you can see the habit streak get longer and longer.

It reminds me of Darren Hardy’s “Massive Transformation Formula” that he teaches about in his book, Compound Effect.

  1. What would need to happen in your life for you to be able to say, “This was the best year ever”? (Set 1-3 goals)

  2. What small daily activities, behaviors, habits, wins or choices will have the biggest impact on that goal? (Choose 2-5 key behaviors, daily activities, small daily wins, baby steps to do daily (emphasis on small))

  3. Track those 2-5 items everyday (Get the Streaks app)

Those 3 steps create a massive transformation in your life and set the compound effect in motion.

“And it all began with one small win.” - The Power of Habits

Do not miss the power of this incredibly simple formula for success. Do not make success more complicated than it needs to be. It is simple. We think it ought to be more complex and elusive, but it is not. The grandest of things began with a single thought, followed by a series of small decisions and choices.

But we think “surely big things come from doing big things”. The opposite is true. Big things coming from little things that are repeated over time. The small things that are easy to do are also easy not to do. Because they are small and they do not seem to matter. But they do. Good choices accumulate. So do bad ones.

No one wakes up in the morning and decides to ruin their life. It is far more subtle than that. Major failures can be traced back to stupid-small choices like hitting snooze too much, not drinking enough water, those fast food stops instead of packing lunch, lingering too long in a conversation, just one more episode, just one more glass of wine, one last look, procrastinating on small tasks, clicking that one link, telling that one white lie...just small, seemingly insignificant choices that accumulate over time that lead to something bigger.

“People do not decide their futures, they decide their habits and their habits decide their futures.” - Jim Rohn

Another one I love from Jim Rohn:

“If you want to have more,

you have to become more.

For things to improve,

you have to improve.

For things to get better,

you have to get better.

For things to change,

you have to change.

When you change,

everything changes for you.”

You can start today. Go through the 3 steps above. Download the app. Begin a new journey. Write a new story. Make lots of streaks. You’ve got this.

xoxo, Leah
